Dr. Dandekar is the medical director at the AMITA Health Cancer Institute Department of Radiation Oncology in Joliet, Illinois. He is committed to ensuring that patients receive the highest quality care in cancer treatment. His commitment has been recognized by both staff and patients alike, as he was voted a finalist for 2017 Physician of the Year at Saint Joseph Medical Center. Dr. Dandekar was born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. He completed all his education and medical training in Chicago. He received his medical degree from University of Illinois at Chicago with honors and completed his residency at Rush University Medical Center. During residency, he published research in a variety of cancer types and treatment techniques including head and neck cancer, lung cancer, sarcoma, cervical cancer and radiosurgery. His findings were published in multiple peer-reviewed journals and discussed at several national meetings. He is Board Certified in Radiation Oncology. Dr. Dandekar is also a leader in advancing his field with the most cutting-edge techniques and clinical research. He is the chair of the local Institutional Review Board that reviews and approves new and ongoing research studies.
